My daughters name is Modjeska Elizabeth Hutchings. My husband and I wanted to give her a Polish name to remind her of her heritage. We chose the name Modjeska, because I always loved the beauty of the canyon and I knew that Madame Helena Modjeska had been a strong-willed individual.

My own great grandmother, Anna Babinski, came to America in the late 1800's, at the age of 18 ( traveling by herself).
When we named our daughter, we had full intentions of using "Jesse" for a nick-name.But as soon as she could pronounce her name, she would tell people, "My neme is Modjeska!" She is now 8-years old with light brown hair and shows signs of being gifted not only intellectually, but also in the arts.
